Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 11

Lent Day 11 - This week CIAA began in Charlotte, NC.  This is the one time of the year those who graduated from HBCU's come together to support their schools in the basketball games.  Besides the games there are numerous day and night parties, concerts, fundraiser and networking opportunities.  There are so many people who attend every year and have never missed a year.  These are among the faithful followers. When we are faithful to a cause, we will always run into others who are just as faithful.  Lent is also a time for us to be faithful because we know God is a faithful God.

Daily Scirpture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 9

Lent Day 9 - During our weekly Bible study last night we expounded Psalm 33.  The ice breaker question from our facilitator was, "What has God done to put you in awe?"  The one thing that puts me in awe of God is the creation of the earth.  God created the foundation of the world out of nothing, out of chaos and out of darkness.  The awe moment is realizing everything has it's own boundaries and beauty.  The next time when you are traveling, take a good look at the scenery around you and really look at what the voice of God created and formed.  We always miss the subtle presence of God because we are rushing through life.  Slow down, take a deep breathe and enjoy the moment.

Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 8

Lent Day 8 - Recently, I saw a carton of two people digging a tunnel.  One person just started and the other person was nearly to the end then quit.  So many times were are so close to our breakthrough and we just quit. We quit because the work is long, hard, unrewarding and we have nothing to show for all the time and passion we put in to it.  We quit too soon because we can't see what's on the other side of temptation, trials and tribulation.  I'm here to say DON'T GIVE UP keep pushing, keep chopping and keep digging because it's all for the glory of God.  When you receive the breakthrough that's when you realize it was worth it because now you are stronger, wiser and humbler than before. HOLD ON and DON'T GIVE UP!!

Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 7

This is the 7th Day of Lent.  Many of us are witnessing the greatness of God.  We are seeing how God is manifesting in our lives through our prayers, praise and proclamation of the Word.  We realize the more we pray together and call upon God change happens.  We are imperfect people who serve a perfect God.  Our God is a great God and there is only one living God for all of humanity.  How great it is to know we are created equally in the eyes of God.  We are God's image no matter how much we try to deny or even run from it.  We are created from the dust and to the dust we will return.    Remember it only takes a response from us to acknowledge God and our spirits will remember the greatness of our God.

Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 6

On this 6th day of Lent.  God's love is unconditional.  The love of humanity is conditional.  We as God's creation need to learn how to love the way God loves us.  It was love that caused God to create humanity into God's image.  Remember we were created to praise God through love.

Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 5 (1st Sunday)

Staying focus during Lent can be hard.  Sacrifice is hard because we have a burning desire not to deny ourselves anything.  In reality we are tempted by what we sacrifice.  Whatever you decided to give up or add in your life for Lent, you will be tempted in many ways.  Keep your eyes on the goal and when temptation comes continue to pray to get through it.  The key is not to give up.

Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 4

As I prepared myself for this 4th day of Lent, I'm reminded how amazing God is.  It's in the morning hours when everything is quiet and calm.  This is the time when we take deep cleansing breaths before we rush into the rest of our day.  Today reflect on the amazing things God has done in your life.

Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015 - Day 3

On this third day of Lent habits are hard to break.  There maybe a habit you decided to give up for Lent and just for a second or two you went back to your regular routine.  If it does happen don't give up keep trying, keep pressing and keep moving.  Sacrifice is not easy.  We do fall down.  So get back up and start over again.

Here is a public message from Ray of Hope Christian Church in Nashville, TN.  They will provide a Lenten time of prayer, teaching and sharing from 6:30am-7:00 EST / 5:30am-6:00am CST every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.  The Pastors are Drs. Daily Scripture Readings Lent 2015, Day 1 - Ash Wednesday

Today is the first day of Lent.  The 40 days leading up to Easter.  Easter is our time of celebration as Christians as we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Did you know that Mardi Gras is rooted in Christianity as well.  Yes, we know people use it as a time of partying and drinking, but there is more to it.  Check out this site to learn more about this season of the Christian Year by visiting http://www.crivoice.org/cylent.html.

This site contains the daily readings for Lent which I will post on a daily basis.  I do hope and pray that you will reflect, fast, sacrifice and repent seriously on this 40 day journey.  These 40 days can be a spiritual renewal if you truly submit yourself to God.
